Day Three with the boys and all is going well. Victor spent the morning with us. We made the walk (which felt like a very long walk in the bitterly cold wind) to the park across the lake to check out the amusement park, which was closed. They'll be open on some weekends if it's sunny and warm, we were told. Maybe we'll try again if it such a day happens while we're here. We have big plans for tomorrow, though: soccer! I mean, football! Apparently Donetsk has a world-class team, and the 60,000 spectator indoor stadium will be full. Anya and Den will take us.
Anya was here this afternoon to give the boys their first English lesson. They seemed to have fun. Anya confirmed what we've suspected: Isaac is wicked smart. She said he wasn't even paying attention and was picking things up VERY quickly. Eli is a very hard worker and was so proud to show me what he'd learned. Anya will come in time to do another English lesson before the soccer game tomorrow.
Victor just left for the weekend so we're on our own until 3:00 tomorrow. I don't plan to leave the apartment before then so the boys and I will just have some lazy down time together (aka I'll be cooking and they'll be eating!). We have Anya's number if something comes up. We'll see her again on Sunday, too, for church.
When we were on our walk, we stopped at a Chinese restaurant to feed the boys and escape the cold for awhile. We ordered too much food. As the plates kept coming, Victor asked Isaac if he needed anything else, and he said something to the effect of, "No, I don't need anything. All I need is my Mamma and Pappa, my family in America, English lessons, and the train (at the amusement park)." He didn't get to ride the train but we can handle all the others!
Hi Jocelyn,
ReplyDeletePraise God that two more orphans are free at last!!! Especially boys, they are the last to go! God bless you and all you are doing with these wonderful babies. How blessed they are to have you and Curt as their parents! I love looking at their faces when they are doing something they have never done ... eating out, playing in a park, and now going to a soccer game! WOW, their little hearts are so at peace with their new Mama!!
